Lunar Eclipse over Four Peaks, Arizona

This lunar eclipse over Four Peaks, Arizona occurred when the Earth was perfectly aligned between the Sun and the Moon, so that the Earth’s shadow (the umbra) covered the Full Moon. The coloring of the moon, and unique sky color comes from sunlight that is filtered and bent by the Earth's atmosphere. This is what also causes sunrises and sunsets.
