As a young teen, growing up in Bisbee Arizona, Edward
Benton would occupy his time by carving and tooling
leather buck stitch belts with the persons name
in the design.
After
college and several business adventures he drew from
his discipline learned in his teen days of leather working,
and then having gained skills in precision aerospace
parts machining, began creating designs sketched on
metal plate and fabricated them into meaningful artlike
pieces. Metal, stone and glass are his favorite mediums.
His
professional artistic start was with Darrell Mankoff
at the first Work of Artists location in lower Scottsdale
in 1991. The line of metal designs grew from the first
kokopelli sculpture and many custom furniture and wall
art pieces, to the extensive collection of clock designs
today.
Determined
to create a product line discovered that designing clocks
is an enjoyable business focus.
I
live for my next rush that comes with an idea and just
making it. This is what makes my work enjoyable and
alive. - Edward Benton
